Sterling Silver

Silver objects with hand-polished finish are susceptible to scratching, therefore they should be handled using cotton gloves and only be cleaned with a soft cotton cloth or using a duster. Removal of fingerprints, light marks or spillages can be gently wiped away with a dry, soft cotton cloth. The surface finish will suffer if cleaned with abrasives or solvents. Good quality silver polish may be used to prevent tarnishing or to remove stubborn marks. Refrain from leaving any acidic ingredients like lemon juice on the surface of silver objects, since it will corrode the finish.

Nickel

Carefully handle using cotton gloves, making sure to avoid surface scratching and contact with hard and sharp objects.
Removal of fingerprints, light marks or spillages on any nickel- plated object should be carried out using a dry, soft cotton cloth. Refrain from using any metal cleaner, abrasive or solvent, as such may spoil the surface of nickel plating. To clean surface marks which have been deposited over time, use a lightly moistened soft cloth. Ethanol may be used to remove any stubborn marks and surface stains, if unable to remove such with a damp cotton cloth.

Glass

Do not clean the glass elements with abrasive or acidic agents. Clean only with a mild detergent, using warm water and dry with a soft cloth. Glass cleaner should be applied to a cloth and then applied to the glass surface.
Glass cleaner must never be sprayed or applied to the glass using aerosol to avoid droplets falling on the metal finish. Handle carefully, avoiding surface scratching, chipping and avoid contact with hard or sharp objects.

Wood

Use the micro-fibre cloth to dust and clean your wooden surfaces. If any spillages occur then simply wipe clean with a damp cloth, acting promptly.
Do not leave your product for prolonged periods of time in direct sunlight as this will accelerate the ageing process and will cause the timber to discolour or even crack and/or dry out.
Monitor the relative humidity in the room keeping it to the average of 45-50%. Extreme changes in humidity can cause shrinking/splitting.

WE RECOMMEND YOU DO…
First and foremost, use and enjoy your furniture! Wear cotton gloves when handling hand-polished objects and use dry, soft cotton cloth to dust, clean and remove light marks or spillages from your GARRIDO pieces. Use a lightly moistened soft cloth to clean off any marks which have been deposited over time, applying the cloth to the affected areas, pluming and then drying the surface promptly afterwards. Ethanol may be used to remove any stubborn marks and surface stains, if unable to remove such with a damp cotton cloth.

Only for sterling silver pieces use silver polish to prevent pieces from tarnishing. Take care however not to use silver polish on nickel, bronze or gold-plated surfaces, as it will damage the finish.

When not in use we recommend to store GARRIDO furniture and objects of art in their custom made crates supplied by GARRIDO. Each crate is made to order with the dimensions and the protective lining designed to fit a particular piece. Storage and transportation of GARRIDO objects in our crates will ensure longevity.

PLEASE REFRAIN FROM…
Using metal cleaner, abrasive or solvent agents or polishes on the non sterling silver surfaces. Using a cloth that is too damp, as the excess water may penetrate the metal leaf and cause internal rusting. Leaving any acidic substances like lemon juice on metal leaf surfaces, as this will cause surface corrosion. Placing any hot or extremely cold plates or other items directly onto the surface of the furniture. Sliding or dragging items across the surface of the furniture as this will cause scratches and dents.
